Admission and Timed-entry FAQ
We are pleased to announce that The Morton Arboretum is open to the public with new guidelines. Timed-entry tickets are required for all guests and members and will help ensure paced arrivals and moderated attendance numbers. Not a member? Join today.
Advance, timed-entry member passes or guest tickets must be reserved online to ensure paced arrivals and safe attendance levels. Passes are not required for President’s Council or Thornhill Society members. Interested in joining the President’s Council or Thornhill Society? Learn more.
This is the only method for admission, and it is a change from the Arboretum’s previous admission process. Passes and tickets will not be available at the gatehouse.

Where do I go to reserve timed-entry member passes and visitor tickets?
Members: RESERVE TIMED-ENTRY MEMBER PASSES
Click on one of the green buttons above, or this link that will take you to the Arboretum's ticketing site. All paid, timed-entry tickets are final, nonrefundable, and will not be exchanged for other dates or times.
Can I get passes or tickets for more than one day?
Yes. At this time, passes and tickets can be reserved for one day per transaction. To book additional dates, please schedule them through individual transactions.
I qualify for free admission to the Arboretum. How do I obtain my free ticket(s)?
To obtain your free timed-entry ticket(s), you must contact Visitor Services in advance of your visit to the Arboretum. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org and provide your name and free ticket credentials to reserve your tickets. Your tickets will be delivered by email within 24-48 hours. Ticket availability is not guaranteed and same-day reservations cannot be processed. Once reserved, tickets are final and cannot be exchanged for another date. Timed-entry ticketing is the only method for admission, and it is a change from the Arboretum’s previous admission process. Tickets will not be available at the gatehouse.
Can members bring guests?
Members may reserve timed-entry passes for up to the number of people who are included within their membership level’s admission benefit. For example, a Morton 4 level member may reserve up to four timed-entry passes. Members may purchase up to two guest passes above their membership benefit level for $5 each. Once that maximum is reached, they have the option to purchase full price visitor tickets.
Can I get a paper map at the entrance to the Arboretum?
Yes, paper maps are now available for members and guests. If you would prefer a digital version, please visit the Maps and Directions page for maps of our grounds and directions to the front gate.
I am a member of the President’s Council or Thornhill Society. How will I access the Arboretum?
Members of the President’s Council and Thornhill Society do not need to reserve advance timed-entry passes. These members will be provided specific credentials to be displayed upon their arrival at the gatehouse for entry at any time. Interested in joining the President’s Council or Thornhill Society? I have a membership at another garden that participates in the American Horticultural Society reciprocal membership program. Can I use my reciprocal membership benefit for admission to the Arboretum now?
The Arboretum’s phased reopening necessitates a timed-entry ticketing system to moderate the flow of visitors onto the site at this time. Free passes or discounts for special category visitors such as reciprocal garden members require that timed-entry tickets be purchased online, and a request for refund be made at the Visitor Center information desk between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We are working to provide access for reciprocal members without advance payment as soon as possible.
Do guests with military IDs still qualify for free admission?
The Arboretum provides free admission for active duty military members and their families by presenting a valid military or military family ID at the gatehouse. Timed-entry passes are not required for admission.
How do I enter the Arboretum if my employer is a Corporate Program member?
A new entry process is in place for employees of Arboretum Corporate Partners that requires advanced reservations for timed-entry tickets. Previously distributed Corporate Partner admission passes are no longer accepted. How do I purchase tickets through the Museums for All program?
The Arboretum’s phased reopening necessitates a timed-entry ticketing system to moderate the flow of visitors onto the site at this time. Through the Arboretum’s participation in the Museums for All program, Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cardholders may obtain timed-entry passes in advance of their visits by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org on any day (except holidays and days we are closed due to weather). Guests will show their EBT card and timed-entry pass at the gatehouse for entry.
Do I need to arrive at the exact time on my pass or ticket?
Timed-entry pass and ticket holders have a one-hour time window to enter, beginning at the designated entry date and time noted on the pass. Entry will not be available prior to the time on your pass, or beyond one hour after that time.
What do I need to show at the gatehouse? Will I have to hand my phone or printed pass to the attendant?
Members and guests will show their timed-entry pass or ticket to the gatehouse attendant, either on their phones or printed documents, for scanning with no touch entry. Members of the President's Council and Thornhill Society do not need advance passes and will be provided specific credentials to be displayed upon their arrival at the gatehouse for entry at any time.

Since I wasn’t able to use my member benefits while the Arboretum was closed, will there be an extension?
All members with an active membership as of March 2020 will have their membership expiration dates reset to three months from the member’s original expiration date.
