Welcome the Spring Season with The Morton Arboretum's Champion of Trees 10K

Runners at the start of the race
The Champion of Trees 10K takes place April 14.
January 21, 2019

Race through The Morton Arboretum’s picturesque woodlands on a spring morning during The Champion of Trees 10K, April 14. The ninth-annual race marks the beginning of the season at the Arboretum, as runners travel a path through the east side in support of the institution’s tree-focused mission as well as programs, outreach and research initiatives.

On the USATF-certified course, participants will race on a path through stately oaks, towering spruce trees, and mighty ginkgo trees. Once the race has concluded, runners can join  in a party featuring live music and a photo booth. Runners aged 21 and older can also enjoy a complimentary Arbor Oak Amber Ale, the Arboretum’s signature beer, brewed with oak chips from the Arboretum’s grounds. Participants are invited to spend the day at the Arboretum following the run.

The race begins at 8 a.m., with the awards presented at 9:15 a.m. Registered runners can pick up their race packet at Dick Pond Athletics, 2775 Maple Avenue, Lisle, on select days in April.  Runners receive a short-sleeve athletic T-shirt, recovery food, and admission to the Arboretum and will wear race-timing technology from the Chronotrack B-Tag system. The top male and female overall finishers will receive a gift certificate for a pair of shoes from Dick Pond Athletics. The top three men and women in the designated age groups will receive medals.

Online registration is now open. The cost, including admission, is $45 through February 16 and $50 from February 17 to April 13. Race day registration is $60, and spots may be limited. Discounts apply for members of The Morton Arboretum. The registration fee is nonrefundable and any cancellation will be considered a donation to The Morton Arboretum.
