Media Outlet Next City Talks About Tree-Focused Outreach Event on Chicago's South Side

Experts from The Morton Arboretum and the Chicago Region Tree Initiative, a collaboration of Chicago region partners working together to develop and implement a strategy that builds a healthier and more diverse urban forest by 2040, recently met with community members on Chicago's south side to support an inventory of the area's trees, discuss next steps, and increase awareness among residents as to the many benefits trees provide. The July event was part of a larger ongoing effort by nonprofit organization, Blacks in Green (BIG), to get one square mile of West Woodlawn, on the southern end of Bronzeville, certified as an arboretum.  Read more in this story from Next City
