The greens of summer are coming quickly to the landscapes and woodlands at The Morton Arboretum.

As the tree canopy fills in with leaves, the main spots to see blooms are the garden areas, including the Ground Cover Garden near the Visitor Center and the Fragrance Garden and Joy Path gardens near the Thornhill Education Center and in the Schulenberg Prairie. Blooming shrubs, sweetshrub, Siberian pea-shrub, and Carolina-allspice, are highlights. You’ll also see blooming perennials such as  chive, green dragon, Jack-in-the-pulpit, and lily-of-the-valley.

In the woods, wildflowers are finishing their season of bloom with the yellow  of yellowrocket and the white flowers of May-apple.

In Schulenberg Prairie, cream wild indigo, false toadflax, shooting star, and prairie violet are in bloom.
