The name “arborvitae” means “tree of life,” a reference to the centuries-old medicinal use of the tree’s evergreen leaves. It’s fitting, then, that the Arborvitae Society is made up of people who are committed to sustaining the life of The Morton Arboretum.
The Arborvitae Society is a group of donors who have established a personal legacy of support through planned- or deferred-giving options. By including the Arboretum in their wills or other estate plans, they generously ensure that its mission and programs will continue for generations to come.
The Schulenberg Prairie is glorious in late summer, with golden, rustling grasses, bright flowers, and dancing butterflies. Although the prairie on The Morton Arboretum’s West Side feels entirely natural, it is a restoration, one of the first in the Midwest, created on former farm fields.
