Course List

  • Forest Explorers (18–35 months)

    Each day we will hike, read stories, and play in this 4–week sensory based outdoor adventure. Adults will also receive tips to continue exploration at home! Four Tuesdays, September 3 through 24, 2019, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
  • Forest Explorers (3–5 years)

    Each day we will hike, read stories, and play in this 4–week sensory based outdoor adventure. Adults will also receive tips to continue exploration at home! Four Thursdays, September 5 through 26, 2019, 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
  • Squishy Squashy Art-kindergarten

    Put on your artist hat. Paint and sculpt squishy frogs, textured turtles, and slippery fish.Learn about these wetland critters and develop artistic skill at The Morton Arboretum. Monday through Friday, June 24 through 28, or Aug 12 through Aug 16, 2019, 9:00 a.m. to noon, or July 22 through 26, 2019, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • STEM Sticks and Bricks-1st-2nd grade

    Engineer your way through challenges as you learn how nature stacks up around you. Spend time exploring our latest art exhibit, Nature Connects, and build your own art from natural materials at The Morton Arboretum. Monday through Friday, June 17 through June 21, or July 15 through July 19, or Aug 12 through Aug 16, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Outdoor Adventures-3rd-4th grade

    Get outside and explore! Set off on a different adventure each day as you explore geocaching, letterboxing, survival skills, and more at The Morton Arboretum. Monday through Friday, June 10 through 14; June 24 through 28; July 15 through 19; July 29 through August 2; or August 12 through August 16, 2019, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    Spend the day observing live species of insects in their habitats while learning why they are different from other animals species at The Morton Arboretum. Two Sundays, September 22 and October 13, 2019, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Registration will open Tuesday, August 20, 2019.)
  • Forestry Merit Badge

    Earn your Forestry Merit badge as you create your own field book to identify local trees and shrubs by leaves, buds and bark at The Morton Arboretum. Two Saturdays, September 28 and October 26, 2019, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Registration will open Tuesday, August 20, 2019.)
  • Little Sprouts (3-5 years)

    Young explorers will hike, play, listen to stories, and engage in science and art in these hands-on sensory-based programs. Select Weekdays starting August 22 through November, 12, 2019, 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
  • Environmental Science Merit Badge

    Do experiments indoors and out at The Morton Arboretum to earn your Environmental Science Merit Badge. Two Sundays, September 15 and October 20, or Two Saturdays, October 12 and November 16, 2019, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Registration will open Tuesday, August 20, 2019.)
  • Little Acorns (18-35 months)

    Young explorers will hike, play, listen to stories, and engage in science and art in these hands-on sensory-based programs at The Morton Arboretum. Select Weekdays starting August 20 through November 14, 2019, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
  • Soil and Water Conservation Merit Badge

    Learn how to study, protect and conserve soil and water resources in this merit badge class at The Morton Arboretum. Two Sundays, October 27 and November 24, 2019, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Registration will open Tuesday, August 20, 2019.)
  • Little Sprouts (3-5 years)

    Young explorers will hike, play, listen to stories, and engage in science and art in these hands-on sensory-based programs. Select Weekdays starting August 22 through November, 12, 2019, 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

  • Citizenship in the World Merit Badge

    Learn what it takes to be a good citizen in the world. Compare the rights we have in the United States with the rights of two other countries. Two Sundays, December 8 and January 5, 2019, 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. (Registration will open Tuesday, August 20, 2019.)
  • Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge

    How much do you know about your national government? In this merit badge class, held at The Morton Arboretum, explore the three branches of our national government. Two Sundays, December 8 and January 5, 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or December 15 and January 12, 2019, 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. (Registration will open Tuesday, August 20, 2019.)
  • Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge

    How much do you know about government where you live? Just as ecosystems within The Morton Arboretum are a complex web, you live in a complex web of government units.Two Sundays, December 15 and January 12, 2019, 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Registration will open Tuesday, August 20, 2019.)
