All Walking Plays are approximately 90 minutes in length and will not exceed 2 miles in hiking distance.

Hans Christian Andersen and his delightful and unexpected traveling companions, are spirited to the woods, to tell his most engaging stories. Through fast-paced action, the audience becomes part of an intimate, hilarious re-imagining of some of the world’s most beloved fairy tales.
ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

What happens when Alice is whisked away from her gardens, back into the fantasy land Through the Looking Glass? Alice meets unfamiliar characters like the Pudding, the Fawn and the White Queen, and reacquaints herself with some we all know and love, finding fresh adventures to explore. Get swept away, down the rabbit hole, in this classic story, told with new twists and turns.
HOLMES AND WATSON’S MYSTERY OF THE WOODS

Think you know Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson? In a world-premiere adaptation, the clever female descendants of the beloved characters, find themselves drawn into the woods, through intrigue and danger, with a brand-new mystery to solve. Hearken back and lean forward into a contemporary take on the famous mysteries, penned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
*Fall weekends are popular days for visitation. Please allow up to 45 minutes to park and get to where the hike commences (Thornhill Shelter, Parking Lot 21).

Pre-purchase a subscription to the 2019 Season of Walking Plays and enjoy all performances at your convenience. No need to plan ahead, just show up at any one performance date each month, even sold-out shows! Limited quantity of subscriptions will be available until July 1. Subscription holders will also receive a Morton Arboretum reusable bag for carrying your blanket, bugspray, or water bottles along the trail.
Each month the Arboretum will offer a Low Impact Hike. Low Impact hikes are designed for guests with lower mobility; the hike covers a much shorter distance, and tries to stay near paved paths wherever possible. This year's dates are July 21, August 18, and October 13.
Each month The Morton Arboretum will feature an American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation performance. This year's dates are July 20, August 17, and October 12.
