Tails on the Trails — Sold Out

This event sold out and timed-entry passes and tickets are no longer available for August 30. 


Please note: Timed-entry member passes and guest tickets are only method for admission. Member passes and tickets will not be available on-site, and members and guests without advance online timed-entry passes or tickets will be directed to exit.

Dogs and pets are not allowed in cars or on the grounds of the Arboretum, except for on specially designated days ('Tails on the Trails' and 'Dog Admission' Days), or as service animals.

The next Tails on the Trails event takes place on Sunday, August 30, 2020 (from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)  Advance, date-specific, timed-entry online member passes and guest tickets are required for all admission, including this event (except for President's Council and Thornhill Society members). Please note that a $5 fee per dog will be applied when you purchase your admission pass and that all dogs require a ticket to enter.

Social distancing is essential for all who visit. Special measures have been put in place to ensure this on-site. Please be considerate of others by practicing social distancing around the Troll Hunt sculptures and in other areas of the Arboretum, such as parking lots and on trails. Guests are asked to wear masks when within six feet of any others who did not arrive with them. Masks must be worn at all times inside the Visitor Center, the Arboretum Store, and the Ginkgo Café. Concessions for this event will be available in Arbor Court. Tips to help you prepare for your August 30th visit:

  • Allow plenty of time to get to the Expo, as you may have to walk up to a quarter of a mile.
  • Dress for the outdoors. Boots are recommended for the hiking trails.
  • Bring a mask for entry into buildings and times when you cannot socially distance.

We want you to have a "paw"-fect day, however, we ask that you please adhere to the following rules while visiting  with your dog:

  • On specially designated Tails on the Trails days, dogs must be attended and on a leash at all times. These events are the only times that dogs and other pets are allowed to visit the Arboretum, unless they are service animals.
  • All dogs who visit the Arboretum must have updated vaccinations and registrations.
  • For the safety of both your pet and the natural environment, do not let dogs go off the marked trails.
  • Please clean up after your pet, bags are available at the Visitor Center.

Dogs are not allowed in the following locations:

  • Children's Garden
  • Maze Garden
  • Visitor Center
  • Thornhill Educational Center
  • Administration Building and Research Center

Restrooms for humans who need to bring their dogs with them can be found at the following locations:

  • Thornhill Picnic Shelter
  • Prairie Visitor Station
  • Big Rock Visitor Station

Remember, PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED on the grounds of the Arboretum, except for on these specially designated days. Please be respectful of this rule.
