Erin is interested in the complex interactions between insect herbivores and plants, and has recently expanded her work to include interactions between plants, pathogens, and environmental factors. She collaborates with Dr. Fred Miller to monitor Illinois forests as part of the Illinois Cooperative Forest Health Program. She is concerned about the spread of invasive insects in the US and is working to help develop sustainable integrated pest management tools to deal with some of the major pest and disease problems we see in Illinois forests. Her interests also include the conservation of our threatened forests and natural areas and the insect and other fauna that they sustain.
I have organized, spoke at, or led at least 11 Forest Health and Emerald Ash Borer Workshops, including hosting the 2019 North Central Pest Workshop, a three-day event held at The Morton Arboretum and attended by 70 practitioners.
