Course description

Make your own naturally scented soaps using the cold-press process.

Learn how to make cold process soaps and take home your creations! You will learn the science of saponification, better known as cold process soap making. Each student will receive hands-on experience, an information-packed class handout with instructions, recipes and valuable supplier list.

We'll discuss how to formulate your own recipes, properly use and store lye, mixing lye and water, oils for soap making, and fragrance oils vs. essential oils. All materials needed for class will be on hand.

You will take home 2 pounds of soap that will net you 6 bars of your design to use or give as gifts. Cold process soap takes about 6 weeks to cure, so plan ahead if giving as gifts.
