Learn about the New Invaders in our region and how to get involved in monitoring and reporting invasive plants that are new to our area. Participants will learn how to identify target species that threaten our natural areas. Trainers will review how participants can get involved in monitoring, how to report new population on EDDMaps and how this program results in on-the-ground control of many early detection plant populations. This program is part of Illinois Invasive Species Awareness Month.
Tricia Bethke is the Forest Pest Outreach Coordinator for the State of Illinois. Her position is funded through a cooperative grant with USDA APHIS. Tricia’s responsibilities include statewide training of key stakeholders on invasive species, forest pest identification, regulations and quarantines and reporting protocols. Tricia also coordinates and instructs tree identification, pest detection programs, and tree health monitoring.
