Course Description

Dwarf Hinoki Cypress or False Cypress is native to Japan. This evergreen conifer displays flattened, fan like foliage and a trunk that develops an attractive shredding reddish-brown bark with age. Hinoki Cypress like full sun and are considered easy to wire, but branches may take a
while to set. ural wiring and thinning of the trees for an overall sustainable design. The trees are in 2 gal pots with 1 inch trunks. All skill levels Welcome.

Jim Beck, bonsai artist

Jim is a member of our club and has been involved in Bonsai for over 35 years. He is the co-owner of BC Bonsai and has been leading workshops for over 15 years. BC Bonsai has won many ribbons and nationally judged shows at the professional level.

  • Notes: Material selection is by lottery drawing, Limit 10
  • Prerequisite: All skill levels welcome
  • Supplies: Price includes materials. Students are asked to bring in what tools they have on hand. Extra tools will be provided by Prairie State.
