Course description

Create your own nature-themed hand-painted ornament in time for the holidays. Learn techniques for painting on a wooden surface using acrylics. Artist and teacher Lindsay Sandbothe will demonstrate her technique for painting wood with acrylic. Then you will have the opportunity to create your own hand-painted tree-cookie ornament to give as a gift or display in your home.

Lindsay Sandbothe

Lindsay Sandbothe is a painter specializing in acrylic birds on wood. She received her BFA in Art Education from the the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and currently works at the American Academy of Art in Chicago while also painting out of her Highland, IN studio.

Course details

Notes: This workshop is for the intermediate/advanced art student. Previous experience with acrylic is required. Limit 18
Supplies: Please bring an image you would like to paint, acrylic paints, and brushes (white synthetic bristles are recommended for this surface):

  • One 1-inch flat brush
  • One small flat brush for blocking in colors
  • The SMALLEST little round brush you have for details!

Brushes are available to borrow if you don’t have a set and don’t wish to purchase them.
