Course Description

You will learn how to blend oil paints and cold wax to create a nature themed collage. Bring in your photos and natural objects or work with the instructor’s collection. Photos need to be a laser jet copy and not the original. They can be color or black and white. We will work with elements that create texture, experiment with powdered pigments and metallics, and use oil sticks and graphite to add dimension. The mixture is placed on the board with a variety of tools which creates an abstract image that has landscape qualities. From there you can scratch into the paint, print a botanical image from actual leaves and embed or imprint organic material into the surface. We will also talk about elements of abstract design, creating a theme, and finding a focus for your work.
