Course description

Join an Arboretum expert for a cup of hot cocoa and a winter stroll through the conifer collection. Admire the variety of textures and colors of evergreen trees, from the frequently seen  to the rare and endangered. Learn how to tell the difference between pines, spruces, and firs. Look at cones up close and enjoy interesting facts about the members of this incredibly diverse collection. Learn which conifers are used for Christmas trees and a bit about how they are grown.

Kelly Burns

Kelly Burns has been teaching at The Arboretum since 2014. Earning a Biology degree in 1995, she has enjoyed a wide variety of jobs: Bat Researcher, Merit Badge Counselor, Animal Keeper, and Teacher. She draws upon her experience and passion to help her audience understand and appreciate the natural world.
