Course description

Rethink the way you choose and manage trees and shrubs with leading designers and plant experts. This full day program showcases the best new information on the selection and care of hardy, versatile trees and shrubs.  Anyone interested in trees and shrubs, from avid home gardeners and landowners to green-industry professionals (like nursery practitioners, arborists, estate gardeners, land managers, landscape designers, landscape architects, landscape contractors, parks and recreation professionals, and municipal foresters), will find valuable information and networking opportunities at this conference, which takes place on the scenic 1,700-acre grounds of The Morton Arboretum.

  • Dr. Irene Palmer, research specialist, Mountain Crop Improvement Lab, North Carolina State Extension
  • Bill Hendricks, owner of Klyn Nursery in Ohio
  • Dr. Jake Miesbauer, arboriculture scientist, The Morton Arboretum
  • Dr. Jack Ahern, Professor of Landscape Architecture, University of Massachusetts, Amherst


Continuing education units:

  • 4 CEU credits for Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD)
  • 4.75 CEU credits for Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES)
  • Up to 4.75 CEU credits for International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)

To reach the hotel from the Arboretum, drive south on Route 53 and turn right on Warrenville Road. Take Warrenville Road 2.6 miles and turn left on Corporate W. Drive. For guests staying at the hotel, shuttles will run from the DoubleTree by Hilton to the Arboretum in the morning and return from the Arboretum to the DoubleTree by Hilton at the end of each day's program.
