DEAR
ARBORETUM FRIENDS,

Thank you for being a tree hero! Your ongoing commitment to
The Morton Arboretum and tree conservation allowed us to move
forward in 2011 with important work to plant and save trees.

With your philanthropic support, we protected
more than 100 rare and endangered plant species at
the Arboretum, and our Magnolia Collection gained
national recognition for its conservation value.

Your gifts have inspired people and communities
throughout the Chicago region to plant trees through
Arbor Day outreach efforts, and school children and
families to enjoy and appreciate the vital benefits
trees provide our world.

Because of you, we went beyond national
borders with conservation initiatives
designed to save endangered trees
worldwide, and with a seed-
collecting expedition in China
to help combat the destructive
emerald ash borer. Arboreta from
across the nation and throughout
the world united for the sake of trees
through ArbNet, an interactive effort
launched by The Morton Arboretum to advance the
common purposes of tree-focused public gardens.

I encourage you to take a moment to learn more
about the accomplishments of 2011 that were made
possible by tree heroes like you. Together, we are creating a
greener, healthier, and more beautiful world. On behalf of the
Arboretum, and on behalf of trees, thank you for your support.

With appreciation,

Gerard T. Donnelly, PhD
