Cultural Requirements: Sun to part shade; prefers well drained soils; found in floodplains, stream banks, and dry woods.

Ornamental Characteristics:  coral-red berries persist into winter; valued by birds

Birds Attracted: Chickadee, robin, and cardinal

Plant Appeal for Birds: Berries ripen in October, persisting late into winter
