Cultural Requirements: Best in full sun; moist well-drained soil; tolerant of dry soil once established
Ornamental Characteristics: Shiny, reddish-brown exfoliating bark; dark green leaves fuzzy on underside turn yellow in the fall; early, pink buds change to fragrant white flowers; attractive, edible scarlet-red fruits in mid-summer attract birds; fast growing, short-lived
