Cultural Requirements: Best in full sun; well-drained, slightly acidic soil
Ornamental Characteristics: columnar habit becoming open and picturesque with age; needles are dark green with white underneath in bundles of 5; older bark reddish-gray color with scale plates; terminal, 2 to 3-inch long cones do not open on the tree but require 3 years to mature and drop in the spring
Use in the Landscape: Specimen or mass planting; due to slow growth excellent in small landscapes
