Habit/Form: Narrow to broadly pyramidal with age Rate: S Zone: 4-7
Cultural Requirements: Full sun to part shade in well-drained, slightly acidic soil; tolerant of gravelly soils; protect from wind sites; may suffer browning in harsh winters; water in dry periods
Ornamental Characteristics: horizontal branches often pendulous; tiny, ¼" deep green needles densely arranged horizontally around stems; small male flowers are carmine-red; bright red cones appear on short-stalks in spring
Use in the Landscape: Specimen tree for smaller landscapes, screening or hedge
