Cultural Requirements: Best in full sun to light shade; tolerant of wet, alkaline soil; native to the SE U.S.
Ornamental Characteristics: Rounded, suckering shrub; dull to glossy dark green foliage; persistent bright red fruit on female plants; male plants required for fruiting; gray stems attractive in winter; yellow fall color
Use in the Landscape: Best in mass in large landscapes

Birds Attracted:49+ species including flicker, catbird, thrasher, waxwing, and robin
Plant Appeal: Fruit matures in autumn and persists through winter; nesting site

Plant tolerant of flooded areas for extended periods of time.
