Sun to shade; moist, well-drained soil; tolerant of a wide range of soil

Ornamental Characteristics: Exfoliating bark on young stems; bark on mature trees is golden-brown, not as showy as paperbark maple; dark green 3-leaved foliage turns a rich yellow and red to orange fall color; short, flowers in clusters of 3 give the plant its name
