Height: 50-60' Spread: 35-45' Habit/Form: Densely pyramidal to oval or rounded, branching to the ground. Growth rate: Slow to medium Zones: 4 – 7

Cultural Requirements: Prefers full sun in slightly acidic soil; does not tolerate wet or compacted soil; drought-sensitive; water well in dry periods; plants benefit with a 3 to 4-inch layer of mulch to moderate soil temperature.

Ornamental Characteristics: Dark, smooth gray bark, developing an elephant-hide appearance; attractive dark green foliage turns yellow to russet brown in fall.

Use in the Landscape: A large specimen tree
