Botanical Name: Ulmus ‘Morton Stalwart'
Common Name: Commendation™  Elm

Culture:full sun; moist, well-drained soil; high drought tolerance. Ornamental Characteristics: ‘Morton Stalwart' Commendation TM Elm is a complex hybrid of Accolade TM Elm with a very large specimen of U. pumila x U. carpinifolia hybrid from eastern Russia. Fast growing, tough, robust tree with large leaves. The ‘Morton Stalwart' is reputedly vigorous and robust. The branches are upright but the form of the tree is ultimately more oval than vase-shaped. It is extremely tolerant of drought and cold. Although resistant to Dutch elm disease, the tree is moderately susceptible to insects problems, notably elm leaf beetle, Japanese beetle and gypsy moth.
