Cultural Requirements: A deep purple form that grows best in part shade to full sun. Grows best in deep, rich, moist but well-drained soils. Intolerant of wet, poorly drained, clay soils. Difficult to transplant, spring plant only.

Ornamental Characteristics: ‘Riversii' is a purple-leaved selection featuring large, glossy leaves (to 5" long). Foliage emerges deep purple in spring, fades to purple-green in summer and finally turns copper in autumn. Beautiful silver-gray bark, especially in winter.

Use in the Landscape: Provides interesting foliage color, use as a purple-leaved specimen or shade tree.
