Acer rubrum 'Red Sunset' at The Morton Arboretum

Height: 40-50' Spread: 35-40' Habit/Form: Pyramidal to rounded Growth Rate: Medium Zone: 4-8

Cultural Requirements: Easily grown in moist to wet, acidic soil in full sun to part shade; chlorosis symptoms (yellowing leaves) can be a problem in high pH (alkaline) soil and drought conditions.

Ornamental Characteristics: A female tree with outstanding form. Glossy, thick-textured green leaves, excellent orange to red fall color, and attractive reddish flower clusters. The excellent branching habit makes it one of the best red maples available.

Uses in the Landscape: Excellent tree in appropriate soil conditions for large lawn, street, or park, but does not tolerate heavy pollution.
