Height: 2-3' Spread: 2-3' Habit/Form: Compact, rounded Growth Rate: Slow Zone: 4-9

Cultural Requirements: Best in well-drained, moist, neutral-to-alkaline pH soil in full sun to full shade, sheltered from winter sun and winds that can cause desiccation and browning of leaves. An antidesiccant applied in late fall can reduce moisture loss during winter. Tips of stems may die back in severe winters. Can be easily pruned to maintain size and shape. Mulching helps keep shallow surface roots cool and moist. Not salt tolerant. No serious diseases or pests.

Ornamental Characteristics: A small broadleaf evergreen shrub with small, glossy, rounded leaves and a uniform, formal growth habit. Leaves retain dark green color in winter. Flowers and fruit are inconspicuous. Similar to Green Velvet Boxwood, but tends to grow faster and exhibit better winter coloration.

Uses in the Landscape: Use in low formal hedges, as foundation shrubs, as specimen or accent shrubs in formal gardens, in mixed shrub borders, in perennial gardens, or in containers.
