Cultural Requirements: Best in moist, well-drained soil in full sun, sheltered from winter sun and winds that can cause desiccation and browning of leaves. Prefers slightly-acidic pH soil, but will tolerate a wide range of soils, if well-drained. Established plants can tolerate short periods of drought. May need to be pruned to keep compact shape. Not tolerant of salt or pollution.
Ornamental Characteristics: An evergreen shrub with narrow, soft, silvery blue-green, 3" needles and a mounded shape. Needles remain on the shrub for two to three years before conspicuously dropping in the fall. Cones produced on mature plants.
Uses in the Landscape: Use in foundation plantings, shrub borders, hedges, or as a specimen or accent plant.
