Unique Panicled Hydrangea

Tagged as: hydrangeas, Large Deciduous Shrubs

Botanical Name: Hydrangea paniculata 'Unique'
Common Name: Unique Panicled Hydrangea

Hydrangea paniculata 'Unique' at The Morton Arboretum

Height: 6-10' Spread: 6-10' Habit/Form: Rounded to spreading Growth Rate: Fast (More than 12 inches per year)  Zone: 3-8
Cultural Requirements: Best in full sun to part shade. Prefers moist, organically rich, well-drained soil. Plants are shallow-rooted and benefit with a layer of organic mulch to maintain a cool root environment. Avoid extremely dry sites. Because flowers are produced on the current season's wood, pruning in late winter or early spring encourages vigorous growth and large flowers.
Ornamental Characteristics: Large, creamy-white conical-shaped flower heads are borne in profusion on strong stems that bloom in August and September. Foliage is a medium green.
Uses in the Landscape: Smaller than other varieties, can be used in mass plantings, near foundations, and in the shrub border.
