Cranberry Cotoneaster

Tagged as: Low growing shrubs

Botanical Name: Cotoneaster apiculata
Common Name: Cranberry Cotoneaster

Reviewed 3/2012

Cotoneaster apiculata 'Blackburn' at The Morton Arboretum

Height: 3-4' Spread: 3-6' Habit/Form: Low, wide spreading Growth Rate: Slow Zone: 4-7

Cultural Requirements: Prefers moist, well-drained soil, in full sun to part shade. Does well in high pH soil and is salt tolerant.

Ornamental Characteristics: Stiff, arching branches form an impenetrable mass. Small, dark green, glossy leaves and cranberry-red fruit make this a nice addition to any landscape. Leaves turn a bronze-red color in the fall and retain color into November.

Uses in the Landscape: Very effective cascading over a wall, in a shrub border, foundation plant, or as a ground cover.
