Cultural Requirements: Prefers full sun to light shade in moist, well-drained soil. The shallow, spreading root system benefits with a 3-4-inch layer of organic mulch. Once established, its one of the most tolerant spruces of wind, heat, cold, and drought.
Ornamental Characteristics: Short, grayish, blue-green foliage persistent for several years. Pendulous, 2-inch long cylindrical cones on ascending branches.
Uses in the Landscape: Use as a specimen tree, in groups, or as a screen in a large-scale landscape.

Birds Attracted:Nuthatches, grosbeak, finches, and chickadee
Plant Appeal:Cones; shelter; nesting site
