Height: 40-60' Spread: 20-30' Habit/Form: Pyramidal  Growth Rate: Medium to Fast Zone: 2-6

Cultural Requirements: Prefers full sun in deep, rich, well-drained soil. The very shallow, spreading root system benefits with a 3-4-inch layer of organic mulch.

Ornamental Characteristics: Large, 6-inch long, purple-green, cylindrical cones change to light brown at maturity and look like ornaments hanging from the pendulous branches. Shiny green foliage.

Uses in the Landscape: One of the fastest growing spruces, commonly used as a windbreak, specimen tree, in groups, or as a screen in a large-scale landscape.

Birds Attracted: 25+ species, including nuthatches, crossbill, finches, and chickadee

Plant Appeal for Birds: Cones; shelter; nesting site
