Leaves

Height: 8-10'  Spread: 10-12'  Habit/Form: Round to spreading  Growth Rate: Slow  Zone: 4-8

Cultural Requirements: As with most Magnolias this plant grows in full sun to light shade. Requires a moist, well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil, high in organic matter. Flowers highly susceptible to frost damage.

Ornamental Characteristics: Commonly grown as a multi-stemmed shrub. Silvery-gray bark and fuzzy, swelling buds add interest to the winter landscape. In early spring, white, fragrant 5-inch flowers are occasionally tinged with pink. Attractive fruits are reminiscent of a small, red cucumber.

Uses in the Landscape: A small ornamental tree or shrub, useful in an established garden, tucked into a sheltered location, near an entryway, or in a shrub border.
