Medium to fast Zone: 4-8
Cultural Requirements: Prefers full sun in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic, loamy soil. Does not tolerate high pH. Grows best when sheltered from winter winds.
Ornamental Characteristics: A pyramidal tree with loose, open branching. Scale-like, dark green foliage is arranged as flattened, horizontal branchlets. Handsome reddish brown bark peels off in strips. Tiny, 5/16-inch, reddish-brown ovoid cones appear on short stalks.
Uses in the Landscape: Use as a specimen plant and in groups in a large landscape.
