Cultural Requirements: Grows in full sun, but best in partial shade. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil high in organic matter. Plants are drought sensitive and should be watered in dry periods.

Ornamental Characteristics: Wonderful coarse-textured, dark green compound leaves turn rich buttery yellow in the fall. The attractive, 8-12-inch, white, pyramidal spiked flowers appear in early July and resemble bottlebrushes. Over time, the plant will grow twice as broad as it is high.

Uses in the Landscape: One of the best shrubs for screening because of its suckering characteristics. Bottlebrush buckeye should be used only in large-scale plantings. Ideal for understory planting in woodland gardens, as a specimen plant, or in a shrub border.
