Permeable Pavement

Porous Pavement being poured at Thornhill Education Center

As a proponent of a greener environment and resource conservation, The Morton Arboretum has installed permeable pavement on the grounds.

Permeable pavement allows water to flow through tiny, connected holes or pores into the gravel substrata beneath the pavement surface, then into the soil.

More widespread use of permeable pavement can play an important role in safeguarding our fresh water resources.
