The Morton Arboretum is establishing the Center for Tree Science to facilitate collaboration, to integrate the many dimensions of tree science research, and to enable researchers to more efficiently address important research questions.
Trees and forests provide resources and ecosystem services that are essential to society and the environment, but they face risks due to urbanization, climate change, invasive species, and other factors. It is essential to enable more effective collaboration, foster innovation in tree science research, and help train the next generation of tree scientists.
The Center for Tree Science will be based at The Morton Arboretum, supported by its institutional mission, resources, and 90-year history of tree science.
Strategic planning for the center is underway in consultation with a scientific advisory committee representing leading tree research institutions and organizations.
