New Development Office Executive At The Morton Arboretum

New Director Brings Strong Experience In Nonprofits

LISLE, IL (May 25, 2007) – The Morton Arboretum continues to enhance its Development office with the appointment of Monica Solomon as Director of Development Operations. Solomon, of Chicago, will oversee the administrative operations of Development in support of all fundraising activities, especially the effort to identify and qualify donor prospects. The addition of Solomon follows the appointment of Jill Koski as Vice President of Development, in March.

The Arboretum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that relies upon donations for support. With the exception of occasional grants, the Arboretum does not receive public funds. As the Arboretum expands its service to the community, it requires expanded support.

“Monica will add valuable experience and skills as we seek philanthropic contributions from members, corporations, and others,” Koski said. “She is the consummate professional and a great addition to our staff.”

Most recently, Solomon was Director of Development Operations and Research at the John G. Shedd Aquarium, during a period when membership and donor revenues soared. She began working at the aquarium in 1998 as the Manager of Gift Processing. Also, she performed accounting services for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Solomon holds a bachelor’s degree in Professional Studies from Roosevelt University and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix (Chicago campus).

Solomon began her tenure at the Arboretum on May 21.
