Trout Fishing In America Swims Into The Morton Arboretum

Music For “People Who Take Their Fun Seriously”

LISLE, IL (July 28, 2006) – Discover the wonder of musical family fun among the beautiful glades and groves of The Morton Arboretum when “Trout Fishing in America” plays their eclectic folk/rock in a family concert Sunday, August 20 at 3 p.m.

“These guys know how to make a connection with families,” said Marilyn Baysek, Special Events and Visitor Programs Manager. “Trout Fishing in America can go from making fun of everyday happenings to touching your heart with stories of family life,” she said.

In nearly three decades of writing, recording and performing together, band members Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet have racked up numerous awards and nominations, including a Parent’s Choice award and a “Best Musical Album for Children” Grammy nomination for their 2004 holiday release “Merry Fishes to All,” which was also selected by Chicago Parent Magazine as one of the best holiday CDs that year.

Acoustic Guitar magazine described TFIA this way: “They play contemporary, acoustic-based music, but they are a throwback to buskers, vaudeville, and even old-fashioned medicine shows. Their material ranges from introspective folk and country-tinged songs, to wildly energetic rock tunes, to Stan-Freberg-style comedy.” The band bills itself as playing “music for people who take their fun seriously.”

Tickets for “Trout Fishing in America” are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. For tickets, visit www.mortonarb.org or www.ticketweb.com, call 630-725-2066 or stop by the information desk at the Arboretum’s Visitor Center. General admission seating; lawn area opens at 2 p.m.

The 2006 Family Concert Series concludes with The von Trapp Children on September 17. This special afternoon will feature actual descendants of the von Trapp family whose story was made famous in the movie: “The Sound Of Music.”

Families are invited to come out early prior to any concert and enjoy the beauty of the Arboretum’s 14 miles of hiking trails and nine miles of roadways. Splash in the Secret Stream or climb a giant acorn in the new Children’s Garden, or get lost in our Maze Garden.

The Morton Arboretum’s summer concerts are sponsored by Bonterra Vineyards, Edy’s Ice Cream, the Hilton of Lisle/Naperville, Nine FM and Samuel Adams Beer Company.
