Learn About Nature With Exciting Classes In The Morton Arboretum Spring Schedule

Turn Leisure Time Into Quality Time For Personal Development And Fun

LISLE, IL (January 25, 2006) – More classes plus more variety equals more opportunities for a truly enriching educational experience at The Morton Arboretum. The Arboretum has just released its spring class schedule, with some important new enhancements.

The Home Gardening Certificate Program is now more convenient than ever.  There are more classes offered at a variety of times, and students can customize their certificate through electives to concentrate on their particular interests.

“For example, if a student is wild about perennial gardening, he or she can take every elective course in perennial gardening, if that's what the student wants to do,” said Jan Little, Arboretum Assistant Director of Education.

12 core courses and 48 classroom hours of electives are required to earn a certificate.

The new spring schedule also highlights the Midwest Gardening Symposium March 10-12, presented by the Arboretum and Fine Gardening magazine. This fun and exciting event features topics including container gardening, growing shrubs, using perennials, and “Birds, Butterflies and Blossoms.” The sessions include continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon break refreshments. Students also receive the latest catalogs and a tote bag. They can enter contests and take home prizes. An optional Garden Gourmet Dinner features a choice of three entrees, two scrumptious sides, two salads, breads and desserts.

The Arboretum presents a wider variety of Youth and Family spring courses, owing to increased demand stemming from the popular, new Children’s Garden. During April and May, such classes in the garden focus on what plants must receive to grow, and what interesting animals live in the Children’s Garden.

Summer Science Camp is an outdoor experience filled with engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and fun-filled explorations. Programs are for kids age two through ninth-grade. Meet new friends, develop new skills, experience the natural world, and have fun!

The Arboretum is already enrolling students for the spring classes. For more information, visit www.mortonarb.org or call 630/719-2468.
