Plant Genius Picks

"Chinese Leptodermis is so new to U.S. horticulture that it doesn't even have a common name. I first encountered this little-known dwarf shrub in 1994 during a seed collecting expedition in the mountains of China. Once the plant flowers it literally doesn't stop until frost. This plant is truly a rarity."
Kris Bachtell, VP of Collections & Facilities

"Experienced horticulturists often plant Three-Flowered Maple in their gardens. This small, graceful tree has beautiful brown-cinnamon bark that exfoliates in long, vertical strips, providing wonderful texture and unique interest in all seasons."
Pete Linsner, Plant Production Manager

"Hellebore—Ivory Prince™ is one of the first perennials to flower in our region! The flowers face upward and are showier than other Hellebores. The green foliage and red stems hold up well under snow and are colorful year-round."
Emily Sommerville, Horticulturist

"The Fringe Tree, with its cloud of white blooms, looks great planted in front of evergreens or a dark background. It definitely will draw the attention of your friends and neighbors."
Gerry Donnelly, President and CEO
