LISLE, IL (June 20, 2013) – Treat the family to a night out during Thursday Family Nights at The Morton Arboretum. From July 11 to August 15, families can enjoy extended playtime and music from some of the area’s top children’s bands.
From 5 to 8 p.m., families can munch on kid-friendly fare, investigate our David Rogers’ Big Bugs and Tree House Tales exhibitions and explore our award-winning Children’s Garden. Afterward, grab a spot on the lawn for some family-friendly music. Admission on Family Nights will be steeply discounted to $5 a person after 4:30 p.m.
The Thursday Family Nights musical lineup includes:
- July 11: Jodi Koplin
A top children’s performer in the Chicagoland area, Jodi performs a wide range of styles, including rock & roll, calypso, boogie and blues.
- July 18: Radio Rock
Featuring popular radio chartbusters presented in a high-energy, positive-themed show, kids are encouraged to sing, dance and interact.
- July 25: Super Stolie
Rebecca Stoelinga’s original songs are so catchy, kids of all ages are drawn to the tunes and positive messages. Dance and freeze, hop and balance, and finish it all off with a ‘Rockstar Jump’ and a high five.
- August 1: Zak Morgan
Grammy nominee Zak Morgan's unique brand of children's music delivers songs and poems with wit and charm that inspire and tickle the funny bones of children and adults alike.
- August 8: Duke Otherwise
This zany show features clever and thoughtfully composed original songs, wild dancing, and storytelling with an offbeat sense of humor.
- August 15: Little Nashville
Little Nashville is an award-winning, high-energy musical group that features an entertaining and educational mix of today’s Country music with contagious lyrics that children of all ages will enjoy!
“Thursday Family Nights are a great way for the whole family to play, dance and laugh together under a canopy of trees,” said Jenelle Hardtke, special events manager. “Families get to experience our amazing four-acre Children’s Garden plus our special exhibits during twilight, casting a whole new light on those experiences. And our live concerts will keep the whole family entertained.”
Thursday Family Nights are open to all and free with admission.
