Updated 3/20/13: This event has been postponed one week due to weather. Please join us for the Spring Equinox Experience on Wednesday, March 27, from noon to 1:30 p.m. See you then!
Are you counting down the hours until spring? Tired of bare branches and gray skies? Waiting for the sun to be shining when you’re leaving work for the day? If so, then you have a condition known as spring fever. The cure? A trip to The Morton Arboretum for our Spring Equinox Experience on Wednesday, March 20, from noon to 1:30 p.m. You’ll hop aboard the Acorn Express, our open-air tram, and take a ride to the Willow Collection for a sneak peak at some early spring bloomers plus stories of spring from around the world.
Blooming flowers, birds singing, and bright beams of sunlight will stir feelings of rejuvenation and showcase a fresh start for our beautiful landscape.
“This is such a great event for visitors because they get to explore the willows, an often-overlooked collection, which are early bloomers and harbingers of spring,” says Mary Samerdyke, manager of interpretation at The Morton Arboretum. “My favorite part about seasonal celebrations is their communal aspect. Visitors interact with interpreters and each other, and everyone takes a moment to appreciate the passing of time on a grander, seasonal scale.”
The Spring Equinox Experience costs $5 for adult members; $6 for adult nonmembers; $4 for child members; and $5 child for nonmembers, plus Arboretum admission.
