LISLE, Ill. (May 28, 2014) — Celebrate the arrival of summer with a nostalgic drive-in movie at The Morton Arboretum. Relax in your car, under the stars to watch favorite movies on a larger-than-life screen set against the Arboretum’s trees.

Families and kids of all ages will enjoy “The Lorax” Friday, June 6.  Based on the beloved Dr. Seuss book, this animated film features the voices of Danny DeVito, Zac Efron and Betty White and brings into focus the importance of conservation and protecting the environment. Saturday, June 7 will bring the cult classic “The Goonies.” Approaching its 30th anniversary, the comedic adventure story of young treasure seekers stars Sean Astin, Josh Brolin and Corey Feldman. 

Both films will begin showing at 9 p.m. Visitors may bring food as well as blankets and alternative seating. Theater-style concessions will also be available for purchase.

Drive-ins will return to the Arboretum in August with two musical favorites. Showing on Friday, August 8, “Newsies” tells the story of a turn-of-the century newspaper boy strike. On Saturday, August 9, audiences will be treated to the Gene Kelly classic about Hollywood’s transition from silent films to “talkies” with “Singin’ in the Rain.”  Tickets will go on sale July 1. Showtime is at 8:30 p.m.

The Morton Arboretum will also feature drive-in movies with “Frankenweenie” Friday, October 10 and “Ghostbusters” Saturday, October 11. Tickets on sale beginning September 9.

Admission Rate
Nonmember admission rates to The Morton Arboretum are $12 for adults ages 18-64 ($8 on Wednesday), $11 for seniors ages 65 and over ($7 on Wednesday), $9 for children ages 2-17 ($6 on Wednesday) and free for children under age 2. Parking is free with admission. Members get in free 365 days a year.
