Husky Heroes returns January 30.
December 17, 2015
Visitors of all ages will enjoy interacting with Siberian sled dogs when Husky Heroes returns to The Morton Arboretum, Jan. 30-31, 2016.
Guests can watch demonstrations of husky sled-pulling and skijoring, a winter sport where the dogs pull a person on skis. Children and adults can visit the dogs and sled teams, inspect equipment and have their pictures taken with the rigs. In addition, information will be available during the event about husky adoption.
Husky Heroes takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 30 and 31, at the Visitor Center and on nearby trails.
Demonstrations held near the dogsled course will begin at 11:30 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:15 p.m. Presenters will include information about each sled team participating in the demonstrations. Information about adoption of huskies will be available, and visitors can view film footage of dogs competing in various sled races.
Husky Heroes also will feature hot drinks and snacks available for sale. Visitors are asked to leave their own pets at home. The Arboretum’s next Dog Admission Day is March 5, 2016.
