Exploring the grounds of The Morton Arboretum is easier than ever with the launch of our first app. The new iPhone® app offers Arboretum visitors new and fresh ways to explore our many tree collections, gardens and natural landscapes. Users can enhance their next visit with one of several interactive features available on the app, including a virtual membership card and news page providing information about events and classes at the Arboretum.
The easy-to-navigate menu of options also includes a GPS-coordinated map that pinpoints popular points of interest and enables users to detect their exact location within the Arboretum at any time.
Tours on the app offer something for everyone -- families, serious hikers, tree lovers -- in a variety of lengths and time commitments.
Birding enthusiasts can check out the waterfowl of Sterling Pond and keep their eyes trained for hairy woodpeckers or bluebirds while strolling Joy Path, as suggested by the Adventures in Birding tour.
Families can get in on the fun by exploring the Fun for Kids tour, which details spots like Adventure Woods, where little ones can delight in the wonders of the natural world while climbing and crawling on elevated play structures.
“Our new app offers visitors an easy, portable way to learn about the many scenic locations at the Arboretum, and take them off the beaten path,” said Mary Samerdyke, manager of interpretation at The Morton Arboretum.
After downloading the app, users will receive a pop-up asking if they want to allow push notifications from the Arboretum. These short text messages are an easy way to get updates on new Arboretum tours, weather alerts, tips on fall color and more.
The Morton Arboretum app works on Apple iOS-enabled devices with cellular connectivity, including iPhones. To download the free app, visit the App Store.
