The show-stopping bloom on new hydrangea shrubs in the Members’ Exclusive Plant Sale Catalog can’t be shut down even by harsh Chicago winters.
INCREDIBALL® Smooth Hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens ‘Abetwo’) has massive white balls of bloom in summer on strong, never-flop stems. The huge flower clusters, as much as a foot across, open a pale lime-green and then mature to snowy white. This improved version of ‘Annabelle’ hydrangea blooms on new wood and is very hardy, so even cold winters can’t stop the show, and it’s a variety of a native shrub.
LITTLE LIME® panicled hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata ‘Jane’) is a show-stopper in a compact package. It has the same lively lime-green flower clusters as the popular Limelight hydrangea, but on a plant just three feet tall. It’s tough, hardy, and small enough to plant in a patio container for summer color.
TUFF STUFF ™ Mountain Hydrangea (Hydrangea serrata ‘MAK20’) has sensational masses of reddish-pink lacecap flowers that open in early summer and return off and on until frost. The flowers begin with a creamy tint in the center and mature to intense pink; in acid soils, the color may shift a bit toward lilac. Mountain hydrangea likes part shade, but can be grown in sun with regular watering.
Place your plant sale order soon for best choice—popular varieties sell out quickly.
