Bring a piece of the Arboretum home

Repurposed banners become totes and wristlets, available in The Arboretum Store.

Looking for a unique way to show your love for The Morton Arboretum?  Now you can wear a piece of the Arboretum on your wrist or shoulder, with the introduction of tote bags and wristlets made from recycled Arboretum banners.

Stop by The Arboretum Store today to see these new items, created from banners that once hung from Arboretum light poles. Each bag features a label proclaiming ‘I used to be a banner at The Morton Arboretum and now I am helping to create a greener, healthier, and more beautiful world.’

On their way to becoming accessories, each banner underwent a deep cleaning with environmentally-friendly products and minimal water. Patterns, featuring past Arboretum events and exhibitions, were then cut and sewn together by hand.

"The recycled totes and wristlets are made with sturdy material that is colorful, playful and easy to clean,” said Jacqueline Fucilla, Manager of The Arboretum Store. “They are a great example of how The Morton Arboretum continues to support our commitment to conserve our natural resources and to re-purpose everyday items into beautiful products."

Available now, the recycled tote bags sell for $32 and wristlets retail for $29.

Environmental stewardship is a key part of The Morton Arboretum’s mission. The emphasis on conservation extends to every part of the Arboretum – from the trees and woody plants we grow and care for to the environmentally progressive design of our Visitor Center Parking Lot, which utilizes permeable blocks and gravel to filter rainwater and melting snow and ensure pollutants don’t reach other water sources.
