LISLE, IL (February 27, 2013) – Help The Morton Arboretum plant and protect trees by participating in the 3rd annual Arbor Day 10K run Sunday, April 21, 2013.
“It’s a challenging and picturesque course that winds over rolling terrain and through early spring woodlands,” says Pete Linsner, a past 10K participant. David Marin, a fellow runner, adds that he enjoys the challenge of this particular course. “The hills make the course interesting, and you really have to pace yourself. The course is also fun to run because of all the great scenery.”
Our USATF-certified course follows the Arboretum’s East Side Main Route through scenic, rolling terrain. Runners will wear the latest in race-timing technology, the Chronotrack B-Tag system.
Registration and packet pickup begins at 6:30 a.m. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. with the awards ceremony at 9:15 a.m. Runners receive a short-sleeve technical T-shirt, recovery food, a discount on the pancake breakfast following the race, and admission to the Arboretum. The top male and female overall finishers will receive a plaque and a gift certificate for a pair of shoes from Dick Pond Athletics. The top three men and women in the designated age groups will receive medals.
Race day registration may be limited. Register at mortonarb.org/calendar by Thursday, April 18. The cost, including admission, is $30 for members or $35 for nonmembers. A special new member offer is $74 and includes race registration plus a discounted one-year individual membership to the Arboretum (a savings of $11). The registration fee is nonrefundable and any cancellation will be considered a donation to The Morton Arboretum.
